What is a PA/PAIT?

Our camp provides a special leadership opportunity for Girl Scouts 7th grade and above to facilitate fun and activities during the week of camp. PA means "program aide" and PAIT means "program aide in training".  Essentially this is a way for our teen campers  to have a more active leadership experience at camp. Girl Scouts has a special PA distinction that goes beyond the camp experience and a "PA" specific training is held a few times a year. All Girls who have never been a PA or PAIT before are asked to complete a special training  to be considered a Girl Scout official PA. If unable to attend the official Girl Scout PA training, the Girl will be considered a PAIT (PA - In Training) until formal PA training has been completed.

The teens unit (aka PA/PAITs) are led by two amazing PA Directors who work with the teens throughout the week and create a special week of leadership and learning. If interested in learning more about PA training, please read the official PA Training Manual.

Additional PA/PAIT Benefits Include

  • Special Camp Shirt color that identifies them as Program Aides for younger campers

  • Special Camp Set Up Access on Sunday prior to Camp - time to bond with other  PAs and with Unit Leaders

  • Opportunity to be active guides who model Girl Scout camp best practices and teach camp songs to all

  • Many moments to be creative and special access to our Fairy Communication System

  • WEDNESDAY NIGHT - Special TEEN NIGHT Party/Celebration

Will there be an opportunity for campers to have an overnight camp experience?

We are excited to offer our special camper overnight experience from Friday to Saturday. This opportunity is an optional offering for all Girl Scout campers grades 4th - 12th and the evening will include additional programming, a camp themed dinner, and opportunity for campers to sleep in the great outdoors. We ask campers to provide their own camping equipment that may include tents, sleeping bags, flashlights. We will have volunteers in attendance to ensure safety. Campers attending overnight will need to be picked up  by 10:00am on Saturday.

What wildlife may campers see while at camp?

Located on the north shore of LaCamas Lake, Camp Currie is home to a variety of wild life including, Osprey, ducks, turtles, Bull-frogs, Blue Herons, deer, rabbits, and the occasional Bald Eagle. In addition, the all too common mosquito often appears at camp so bug spray is highly recommended in addition to daily sunscreen for campers.
