Volunteer Experience

Who can volunteer?

Volunteers are over 18 years old and must be current Girl Scout volunteers with background check and complete Mandatory Reporting and Foundations training.  We have a variety of volunteer roles that range from onsite camp support to pre and post camp volunteer opportunities as as well.

Are volunteers paid?

All volunteers are unpaid and actively taking time to support Girl Scouts and Currie Day Camp. Many of our volunteers have a variety of other commitments in addition to their Currie Day Camp work and your kindness and patience are greatly appreciated.

How do you prepare adult volunteers?

We facilitate a specialized training at the camp property for adult volunteers and provide a Currie Day Camp volunteer handbook.  The 2025 Volunteer Training will be announced shortly. We will also meet with volunteers on Sunday, July 13th to set up and prepare for the week ahead.

Will grown up volunteers be placed with their family members?

We try not to have campers placed in units with their grownups or siblings. The reason we do this, is so campers are able to experience camp in a way that promotes independence.  Just as with troop meetings, this is an opportunity for campers to have space to connect with a wider Girl Scout community and make new friends. We have common gathering times in the morning and afternoon and family members will definitely see each other during the day.

We have people come to the camp to teach a program to the girls. We rotate through each program during the day. There will be opportunities for crafts and hikes.
